In December, China’s power battery installed capacity was 75.4 GWh, up 57.3 percent year-on-year and up 12.2 percent from November.
For the full year of 2024, CATL ranked first with 45.08 percent share, BYD ranked second with 24.74 percent share, and CALB ranked third with 6.68 percent share.
China NEV sales at record 1.596 million in Dec, CAAM data show
For the full year of 2024, China’s NEV sales amounted to 12.866 million units, contributing 40.9 percent of all vehicle sales of 31.436 million units.
The CAAM expects China’s vehicle sales to reach 32.9 million units in 2025, of which 16 million are NEVs.

In 2024, Shenzhen’s NEV production was 2,935,300 vehicles, a local official said.
Shenzhen is where BYD is headquartered, and the company has a large production base in the city with a planned annual capacity of 1 million vehicles.
BYD showcases Sealion 07 EV in Japan, launch set for later this year
The Sealion 07 EV will enter the Japanese passenger car market this year and will be BYD’s fourth model in the Japanese market after the Yuan Plus, Dolphin and Seal.
In 2024, BYD sold 2,223 NEVs in the Japanese market, up 54 percent year-on-year.
