Xpeng teases new SUV G7 to take on Tesla Model Y
Xpeng’s new SUV is officially named the Xpeng G7, and will perhaps be the most competitive SUV in the RMB 250,000 ($34,100) class this year, an executive said.

China NEV retail reaches record 1.3 million in Dec while penetration continues to decline
China’s NEV penetration at retail stood at 49.4 percent in December, marking the fourth consecutive monthly decline and the first time it has fallen below 50 percent since June.
BEVs sold 762,000 units at retail in December, contributing 58.5 percent of all NEV retail sales, lower than 59.8 percent in November.
Tesla sells record 82,927 cars in China in Dec, exports 10,839 from Shanghai plant
In the fourth quarter, Tesla’s retail sales in China were 196,902, contributing 39.73 percent of global deliveries.
It had retail sales of 657,102 units in China in 2024, up 8.85 percent from 2023.

A facelifted Tesla Model Y not wrapped in camouflage has been spotted undergoing winter testing, signaling that it could be close to launch.
The Model Y is one of the most popular models in China, contributing 72.87 percent of Tesla’s China deliveries in January-November 2024 for the same period.
